Exchange a Child's (Under 16) Passport Abroad

A passport for a Republic of Armenia citizen under 16 years old, residing in a foreign country, is replaced upon application by one parent or legal guardian.

To apply to exchange a child's passport, it is necessary to visit the Armenian embassy or consulate of the given country by booking a visit in advance, and if you are unable to visit the embassy or consulate, by identifying yourself via video conference.

You can apply for this service in person by booking an appointment in advance.

The passport is exchanged if:

  • The validity period has expired
  • The citizen has changed the data about him/her in the state population register included in the passport.
  • The citizen has lost the passport
  • The passport contains incorrect data
  • The pages of the passport intended for affixing entry visas have been filled.
  • The citizen has expressed such a desire.

To exchange a child's RA citizen passport, the parent of the child abroad applies to the RA embassy or consular office of the given country, booking a visit in advance.

When booking an appointment, it is necessary to indicate the details of the person who will personally appear for the reception.

After clicking the "Book a Visit" button, you must:

  • Select the website of the embassy of the country where the application will be submitted
  • Click on the “Book an Appointment” button on the left side of the page
  • In the window that opens, select the “Issue of Passport (exchange)” option
  • Select the most convenient option from the available days and times
  • On the page that opens, fill in your personal data and confirm the reservation

Requirements

To exchange a passport for a citizen of the Republic of Armenia under the age of 16, the child must:

  • Be registered in the State Population Register
  • If you are a male citizen who turns 16 during the given year, you must undergo military registration.

Required Documents

The following documents must be submitted to the relevant embassy or consulate:

  • Application for a passport
  • 4 photos measuring 35x45 mm
  • The child's passport to be exchanged and a copy of its pages 2-5
  • The parents' passports and copies of their pages 2-3
  • The parents' marriage certificate and a copy of it
  • A receipt for paying the state fee

Additional Documents Required

In some cases, additional documents may be required from a person when applying for a passport, in particular:

If the parents' marriage was not registered before the child's birth:

  • A certificate of recognition of paternity
  • A certificate of being a single mother
  • A death certificate of the parent
  • A court decision declaring the parent missing or deceased

In addition, it is necessary to submit one of the mentioned documents and a copy of it.

Payment Amount and Procedure

To exchange a passport for a child under 16 years of age abroad, you must pay 30,000 AMD. Payment must be made online.

Delivery Time and Procedure

The new passport is issued within 2-3 months. To obtain it, you must visit the Armenian embassy or consulate in the country in question.
