Temporary Residence Permit
Circumstances justifying a person's residence in the Republic of Armenia for one year or more may include:
- Studying
- Having a work permit
- Being the spouse, parent, or child of a foreigner with a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Armenia
- Being the spouse or close relative (parent, child, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild) of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia or a foreigner with permanent or special residence permit in the Republic of Armenia
- Being engaged in entrepreneurship
- Being Armenian by nationality
Temporary residence permits are granted for up to one year and may be extended for an additional year at a time.
To obtain a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Armenia, it is necessary to apply to the Department of Foreigners of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Republic of Armenia.

To obtain a temporary residence permit, it is necessary to submit the following documents to the Department of Foreigners of the Migration and Citizenship Service:
- Application form (filled out on the spot)
- 3 color photos measuring 35 x 45 mm
- Passport, copy of passport, and notarized Armenian translation of the passport
- Documents evidencing the issuance (or extension) of a residence permit in the Republic of Armenia
- Health certificate
- Receipt of state duty payment. The state duty for obtaining a temporary residence permit can be paid by one of the following
- On the spot
- At a POS terminal
- Online through the State Electronic Payments System
- At any bank by transferring to the account (treasury account number: 900005162111)
The document confirming a temporary residence permit is the temporary residence card, which is issued to a person if their application for a temporary residence permit is approved.
Decisions on granting or denying temporary residence permits are typically made within 30 days of the application submission date.
An application to extend the validity period of a temporary residence card must be submitted to the passport department (also known as the OVIR) at least 30 days before the card expires.

According to EAEU regulations, citizens of member states are exempted from the obligation to obtain a work permit within the EAEU territory. However, they must obtain a Certificate of Legality of Stay for stays exceeding 180 days.
A work permit may be refused in the following cases:
- the state of the Armenian labor market, based on the Ministry's analysis, does not allow for that employment,
- Armenian law requires Armenian citizenship to perform the specific job,
- the required information or documents are forged,
- the employer, who intends to hire the foreign national, has previously violated the requirements for employing foreign nationals,
- there are reasons that pose a threat to the national security of the Republic of Armenia.

Student Visa in Armenia
Foreign students admitted to Armenian higher educational institutions are eligible to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit, which is typically issued for one year.
Usually, the educational institutions apply for their students' residence permit.
International academic staff and students apply for a residence permit within 30 days of entering the country.
The following documents need to be submitted:
- application form
- passport, the photocopy of the passport, passport translation certified and verified by notary (including the copies of entry stamp pages)
- health certificate,
- 3 passport size photos (3x4)
The residency application can take 30–60 days.
Permanent Residence Permit
Permanent residence permits are granted to foreigners if they:
- Can prove the following
- They have a spouse or close relative (parent, child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild) who is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia or has special residence status in the Republic of Armenia.
- Can demonstrate they have adequate housing and means of subsistence in the Republic of Armenia.
- Have resided in the Republic of Armenia for at least three years before applying for permanent residence status.
- Are of Armenian nationality
- Are engaged in entrepreneurial activity in the Republic of Armenia
