Obtain or Exchange an Adult Passport Abroad
Citizens of the Republic of Armenia are eligible to obtain an Armenian passport regardless of age. The passport serves as an official document confirming identity and citizenship. It is intended for travel abroad, return to Armenia, and use as an identification document within the country.
To obtain or exchange a passport abroad, it is necessary to visit the relevant Armenian Embassy or Consulate in the country of residence, with an appointment scheduled in advance. If visiting the embassy or consulate in person is not possible, identity verification may be conducted remotely via video call.
When scheduling an appointment, the personal details of the individual attending the appointment in person must be provided.
Passport exchange is required in the following cases.
If a person is in a country without an Armenian Embassy or Consulate, or in a remote location where it is difficult or impossible to visit the nearest Armenian Embassy, they can apply for obtaining or exchanging an Armenian passport via video call.
To apply for or exchange an Armenian passport via video call, it is necessary to first send an email to [email protected] with the applicant’s first name, last name, and passport number written in Latin letters in the subject line.
The Email Must Include the Following Information:
- Applicant's name, surname and patronymic
- Date of birth
- Passport number
- Mobile phone number
- Location (country, region, city)
- Attach a copy or photo of the passport
- In case of obtaining a passport for the first time, a foreign passport
- In case of a minor, a birth certificate and copies or photos of the parents' passports
- Convenient days and time range for conducting a video call, indicating the time zone
After the video conference, the documents required to obtain a passport for a citizen of the Republic of Armenia must be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia via postal service.
Requirements
To obtain or exchange an Armenian passport, it is necessary to:

Be registered in the State Population Registry of the Republic of Armenia.
Required Documents
It is necessary to submit to the relevant RA embassy or consular office:
- Application for a passport
- 4 photos measuring 35x45 mm
- In the case of male citizens - a military record book and copies of all its pages, a certificate of military registration, or a document on deferment and its copy
- A receipt for payment of state duty

Payment Amount and Procedure
To obtain or exchange a passport via video call, a fee of 90,000 AMD must be paid online.
An additional fee for individual postal delivery is also required. The cost of this service ranges from 12,500 to 20,500 AMD, depending on the country. This payment must also be made online.
It is also possible to receive the passport through an authorized representative. In that case, the postal delivery fee does not apply.
Attention
Ethnic Armenian foreign citizens or Armenian citizens living in a location where a state of emergency has been declared—posing a threat to their life or health—are exempt from paying the state fee when obtaining or exchanging an Armenian passport in foreign countries.
Delivery Period and Procedure
The passport is issued within 2–3 months after the application is submitted.
The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia sends the passport to the foreign address provided by the applicant via individual postal delivery.
If the passport is to be received through an authorized representative, the citizen abroad must fill out a power of attorney, allowing the authorized person to collect the passport from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and send it to the applicant.
After the passport is sent, a tracking number is provided to the applicant via email, which can be used to monitor the delivery status online.
