Obtaining a Passport for a Child (Under 16 Years Old) Abroad
Citizens of the Republic of Armenia can voluntarily obtain a passport, regardless of age. A passport is a document certifying a person's identity and citizenship, intended for exiting and returning to the Republic of Armenia and use within its territory.
Citizens under the age of 16 are issued a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia abroad based on the application of one parent or legal representative. This requires visiting the RA embassy or consular office of the given country, making a prior appointment, and, in case you are not able to visit the embassy or consulate, identifying yourself via video.
If a person is in a country with no Armenian embassy or consulate or in a remote location where it is impossible or difficult to apply to the nearest Armenian embassy, ββhe or she can apply via video conference to obtain a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia.
The application for a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia for a child under the age of 16 is submitted by one of the parents or a legal representative (guardian, guardian). The presence of the child during the video call is desirable.
It is necessary to send an email to the email address [email protected], writing the applicant's first name, last name, and passport number in Latin letters in the subject line.
The following information must be included in the body of the letter:
- Applicant's name, surname and patronymic
- Date of birth
- Passport number
- Mobile phone number
- Location (country, region, city)
- Attach a copy or photo of the passport, and in case of obtaining a passport for the first time - a foreign passport, in case of a minor - birth certificate and copies or photos of the parents' passports.
- Convenient days and time range for conducting a video call, indicating the time zone
After the video conference, the documents required to obtain a passport for a citizen of the Republic of Armenia must be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia via postal service.
Requirements
To obtain a passport, you need:
- Be registered in the State Population Register.
- When registering a place of residence (address registration), a person's data about their place of residence is recorded in the State Population Register.
Required Documents
The following documents must be submitted to the relevant embassy or consulate:
- Application for a passport
- 4 photos measuring 35x45 mm
- Child's birth certificate and its copy
- Parents' passports and copies of their 2nd-3rd pages
- Parents' marriage certificate and its copy
- Receipt of state duty payment
Additional Documents Required
In some cases, additional documents may be required to obtain a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia for a child, in particular:
If the parents' marriage was not registered before the child's birth, then:
- A certificate of recognition of paternity
- A certificate of being a single mother
- A death certificate of the parent
- A court decision declaring the parent missing or deceased
In addition, it is necessary to submit one of the above documents and a copy of it.
If at the time of the child's birth, one of the parents is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia and the other is a foreign citizen or stateless person, then:
- Written consent of a foreign citizen or stateless parent to grant the child RA citizenship and an RA citizen's passport.
If a child is issued a passport as a result of the parents or one of the parents acquiring RA citizenship, then:
- Written consent of the parents and their child who has reached the age of 14 to grant the child RA citizenship and an RA citizen's passport.
Payment Amount and Procedure
If you apply via video conference, you will need to pay 90,000 AMD to receive your passport. Payment must be made online.
- You will also need to pay for individual postage.
- The fee for individual postage is 12,500 - 20,500 AMD, depending on the country.
- Payment for postage must be made online.
Delivery Time and Procedure
The passport is issued within 3 months of applying.
The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia sends the passport by personal mail to the address in the foreign country indicated by the applicant.
After sending the passport, the applicant is sent a tracking number for the postal item via email, which allows them to track the progress of the item online.
