Register the Acknowledgment of Paternity

If the parents are not married at the time of the child's birth, the person who recognizes himself as the child's father must apply for state registration of paternity.

Requirements

  • Apply to a service center or diplomatic service body and submit the necessary documents.

The grounds for state registration of paternity recognition are:

  • The child's birth and the person who recognizes him as the father of the child, stating that the child is descended from the person submitting the declaration

  • In cases provided for by law, a declaration of the person who is not married to the mother and recognizes him as the father of the child, stating that the child is descended from him

  • A notarial act on a legal fact certified by a notary in accordance with the procedure established by the Law "On Notaries" or a relevant court judgment that has entered into legal force.

Required Documents

To recognize paternity, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

  • In the case of a joint application, the identity documents of the person recognizing him/her as the father of the child/the mother of the child

  • The child's birth certificate or the data of the act registration, if the registration of the recognition of paternity is carried out after the state registration of the child's birth

  • A medical certificate confirming the pregnancy of the child's mother if the application for recognition of paternity is submitted before the birth of the child

  • The identity document of the person recognizing him as the father of the child and a document issued by a competent authority on the absence of the child's mother

    • The mother's death certificate or a court decision that has entered into legal force on recognizing her as incompetent or deceased or missing or on depriving her of parental rights

    • And a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) decision on the biological father of the child

  • The consent of an adult in the case of recognizing paternity in relation to him

  • The consent of a child who has reached the age of ten, if as a result of the state registration of recognition of paternity, his/her name or surname is also planned to be changed

  • A notarial act regarding a legal fact certified by a notary or a relevant court decision that has entered into legal force and a document certifying the applicant's identity.

It is necessary to submit the following with the application:

  • The child's last name, first name, patronymic (before the recognition of paternity), gender, place and time of birth, time and number of the child's birth registration act
  • The child's first name, patronymic, and last name after the recognition of paternity, if the applicant wishes to change them
  • Information about the child's father: name, patronymic, last name, as well as place and time of birth, citizenship, place of residence, and nationality, if desired
  • Data about the child's mother, according to the child's birth registration act
  • Data of the child's parent's identity document
  • The type and data of the document serving as the basis for the recognition of paternity

Payment Amount

  • A state fee of 10,000 AMD is set for the recognition of paternity.
  • A state fee of 25,000 AMD is required for the recognition of paternity in a foreign country.

Delivery Time

State registration of paternity recognition is performed on the same business day of submitting the application and documents.

Upon receipt of the paternity recognition certificate sent by the territorial body of the Civil Registry Office of a foreign country, the agency sends it via postal service within 2 business days to the address specified in the application or provides it to the applicant in person.
