Receive Support for Obtaining a Wheelchair, Crutches, Hearing Aid, or Other Assistive Devices
Currently, this service is available only in person. We are working on the online version.
Persons with disabilities, as well as individuals with other social statuses, or their authorized representatives, may apply for a certificate to receive assistive devices by visiting the territorial center of the Unified Social Service (USS) corresponding to their place of residence, and submitting the required documents.
Eligibility Requirements
To receive a certificate for assistive devices, the applicant must have a recognized disability status confirmed by a medical institution.
Required Documents
To receive a state-issued certificate for assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, upper and lower limb prosthetics, hearing aids, and others, applicants must complete the application form provided at the center and submit the following documents:
- A valid personal identification document,
- A Social Security card, Public Services Number (PSN), or a certificate of exemption from obtaining a PSN,
- If submitted by a representative: a written authorization from the beneficiary and the representative’s passport,
- If the applicant is a non-citizen permanently residing in Armenia: a residency card,
- If the applicant is an asylum seeker: an asylum seeker’s certificate,
- If the applicant has refugee status: a convention travel document,
- A medical-social assessment decision or a functional assessment certificate.
Additional documents may be required if necessary.
Amount of Support
The certificate is issued free of charge. However, if the chosen assistive device’s price exceeds the value allocated for the certificate, the applicant may voluntarily purchase it by covering the price difference themselves.
Issuance Timeline and Procedure
- If any inconsistencies or inaccuracies are found in the submitted documents, the USS will notify the applicant within 5 working days. Once corrected and complete documents are received, the certificate will be issued within 5 working days.
- After the certificate is issued, the applicant receives a copy of the certificate and a list of organizations where they can obtain the required assistive device.
- The certificate remains valid for 180 calendar days from the issuance date.
- No assistive devices are provided between December 15–31. These days are not counted toward the 180-day certificate validity period.
