Request Information from a State Authority
Every person has the right to access the information they seek and may request it from the entity holding the information, including state administrative bodies, local self-government bodies, state institutions, organizations funded by state and local budgets, public organizations, and public officials.
Information can be obtained either by physical application or through a written request.
Required Documents
To request information from state authorities, the applicant must submit a written request, including the following personal details:
- First name,
- Last name,
- Citizenship,
- Address of residence, workplace, or educational institution.
Payment Amount and Procedure
Information is provided free of charge in the following cases:
- Responding to verbal requests
- Providing up to 10 pages of printed or photocopied information
- Providing information via email
- Responding to written requests for information that, if published, could harm public security, public order, public health, morals, the rights and freedoms of others, the environment, or personal property
- Refusal to provide information
If false or incomplete information is provided, the organization must correct it and provide the correct information free of charge upon request.
In some cases, a fee may apply for providing information. Public organizations decide the amount they charge for information provision.
Attention:
- Applicants do not need to justify their requests.
- If the request is refused, the decision can be appealed to an authorised state body, court, or the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
Delivery Period and Procedure
- If the requested information is not already published, a copy will be provided within 5 working days after the request is received.
- If the requested information is published, the applicant will be informed within 5 working days about where and when it was published.
- If more time is needed to provide the requested information, it will be provided within 30 working days after receiving the request. The applicant will be notified within 5 working days about the delay and the new deadline via email, along with the reason for the delay.
No response will be provided if:
- The applicant’s personal information is found to be false
- The same request is submitted by the same person within 6 months
