Receive Emergency Medical Assistance by Helicopter
Emergency medical care, including patient transportation and hospitalization, is provided free of charge across Armenia under state guarantees.
Services are organized through the emergency medical care service and the rapid response outbound emergency medical service (Sanavia).
This service is used when a patient cannot be transported to a medical facility or requires a specialized consultation for diagnosis or treatment.
The director of the relevant medical institution must notify Erebuni Medical Center CJSC at 010-47-70-70 or 8119 if helicopter transportation is required for the patient.
This notification must be made within 15 minutes of informing the patient’s relatives and obtaining their written consent.
This service is provided free of charge as part of the state-funded healthcare program.
Requirements
Helicopter patient transportation is available for medical organizations in the Lori, Shirak, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, Tavush, and Syunik regions of Armenia.
A patient may be transported by helicopter if they have:
- Severe craniocerebral or spinal injuries with traumatic shock
- Polytrauma (multiple severe injuries affecting large bones and/or internal organs)
- Life-threatening acute cerebral circulation disorders with loss of consciousness
- Animal bites or poisoning from medication or chemicals, leading to polyorgan failure
- Third- or fourth-degree burns, burn-related conditions, or infectious-toxic shock
- Unexplained life-threatening loss of consciousness
- A life-threatening condition in a pregnant woman or newborn
- Severe respiratory distress syndrome (in the neonatal period)
- Acute renal failure (in children under 18)
- Heart failure or paroxysmal tachycardia (in children under 18)
- Coma of unknown origin (in children under 18)
- Spontaneous cerebral hemorrhages (in children under 18)

The service is provided immediately.
