Obtaining RA Citizenship if Your Child is A Citizen of the Republic of Armenia

People can obtain citizenship if their child is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia.

To obtain citizenship, it is necessary to physically apply to the Citizenship granting department (Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia) located at Davtashen, 4th District, 17/10, by pre-booking an appointment through the website migration-e.gov.am or the EarlyOne application.

When booking an appointment, it is necessary to indicate the details of the person who will personally apply. Individual registration is required for each visitor, regardless of age. However, service for individuals over 75 years of age is provided in a "live queue" format.

To register online, you need to:

  • After identification, fill in the required data (the name and surname must be filled in exactly as written in the passport) and click the "Next Page" button.
  • On the opening page, enter your email address and phone number, then enter the code sent to your email, and click the "Next Page" button.
  • In the "Visit Location" field on the opened page, select the address "Davtashen, 4th District, 17/10" (Citizenship Granting Department).
  • Fill in the details of the person for whom the application is being submitted.
  • In the "Select Day and Time" window, choose the most convenient option from the available days and times.

Enter the "State" field, select the "Migration and Citizenship Service" section, and from the branches, choose the "Citizenship granting department." Then, select the sub-section "Submission of Application for Obtaining or Terminating Citizenship" and fill in the data according to the required sequence.

Attention
The registration application is considered booked if the applicant receives a corresponding message to the specified email address.


Required Documents

On the scheduled day and time of the visit, an application form will be filled out at the Migration and Citizenship Service, to which the following must be attached:

  • valid passport issued by a foreign state and a copy of it,
  • 6 color photographs, size: 35 x 45 mm,
  • birth certificate and a copy,
  • marriage (divorce) certificate, a copy of it, and a copy of the spouse's passport (if the surname was changed based on marriage),
  • document confirming a change in personal data (if the person has made such a change),
  • the Armenian citizen child's passport and a copy of it, or another document confirming Armenian citizenship,
  • The child's Birth Certificate and a copy,
  • receipt for the payment of the state fee (duty).

Documents in a foreign language must be presented translated into Armenian and notarized.

Applicants born after November 28, 1981, must also present their parents' identification documents, the parents' Marriage Certificate (if absent, the Paternity Recognition Certificate or a certificate confirming single-mother status, or the Death Certificate).

Attention
Persons who are not of Armenian nationality must take a test on the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia on the spot when submitting their application for Armenian citizenship.

 

Payment Amount and Procedure

When applying to obtain Armenian citizenship, a fee of 50,000 AMD must be paid.

The payment is made by one of the following methods:

  • Through the E-payments system.
  • By bank transfer to the account number of the state budget of the Republic of Armenia: 900005160529 (if the transfer cannot be made to this account number in the banking application, please select the option "Transfer to State Budget").



Delivery period and Procedure

  • The person's application is reviewed within 90 working days after submission.
  • After submitting the application for citizenship, the person receives their individual code via SMS message with their application number or an email, which can be used to track the application's progress.
  • If the application for Armenian citizenship is satisfied or rejected, the person is notified via SMS message or an email.
  • If the application is satisfied, the person is notified via SMS message, after which they can apply for an Armenian citizen's passport.
