Obtaining Armenian Citizenship as an Incapacitated Person
For individuals declared legally incapacitated, the preliminary application for Armenian citizenship can be submitted through the Electronic Citizenship Case Management System by their legal guardian.
How to Apply
To submit an application for Armenian citizenship on behalf of an incapacitated person, the legal guardian must follow these steps:
- Register and log in to your personal account,
- select the "Applications" section from the menu,
- create a new application,
- select the type of service,
- if there are discrepancies or changes in the data, check the box and attach the supporting document,
- verify the personal details (you can add an additional residential address and phone number),
- provide the incapacitated person’s Public Services Number (PSN) if available, or their foreign passport along with a certified Armenian translation,
- on the next page, upload a 35x45 mm photo of the applicant,
- attach all other required documents,
- provide details of close relatives (optionally),
- review the information for accuracy and submit the application,
- pay the state fee by clicking the designated button.
Requirements
To apply for citizenship on behalf of an incapacitated person, the guardian must:
- Be a citizen of the Republic of Armenia,
- Be the officially recognized legal guardian of the incapacitated person.
Required Documents
- The passport of the applicant (the Armenian citizen guardian),
- the foreign passport of the incapacitated person,
- the decision of the guardianship and trusteeship authority recognizing the guardian,
- a court ruling confirming the person’s legal incapacity,
- any additional documents, if applicable (e.g., other relevant court acts).
Payment Amount and Procedure
After uploading the documents and filling in the required fields, you must complete the payment within the system.
The state fee for obtaining citizenship is AMD 50,000.
The system will automatically redirect you to the online payment page once the documents are attached.
Processing Time and Procedure
You will be notified of the application approval via email and the online platform within 15 working days of submission.
If translations are missing or documents are insufficient, the application will be sent back for corrections. You will have 10 working days to resubmit.
Once approved, you will receive a notification to schedule an appointment. You must visit the Migration and Citizenship Service (MCS) office or an Armenian Consulate at the scheduled time with the original versions of all documents.
