If You Don't Have an Identity Document, Apply to Determine Your Status

In order to determine a person's citizenship status, it is necessary to physically apply to the Passport and Visa Department of the Migration and Citizenship Service (also known as OVIR) located at 17/10, Davtashen, 4th district.

Who Can Apply?

  • Citizens of the former Armenian SSR (Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic) who have not acquired citizenship of another state
  • Citizens of other states of the former USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics)
  • Persons without citizenship and identity documents
  • Persons deprived of citizenship
  • Refugees

Required Documents

It is necessary to submit all available documents related to citizenship to the Passport and Visa Department of the Migration and Citizenship Service (also known as the OVIR).

Depending on the case, additional documents may be required, which will be notified by the department employee.

Payment Amount and Procedure

Citizenship status determination is carried out free of charge.

Delivery Time

Depending on the case, the examination of the application may take several months.

After being recognized as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, a person may apply to the Passport and Visa Department to obtain a citizen's passport.
