Receive Reasonable Accommodations for People with Disabilities

The goal of the program is to ensure reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities in the workplace and educational institutions.

You can apply for this service by visiting the office in person.

To receive reasonable accommodations, a person with a disability must apply to the educational institution or workplace where they study or work.

About the Program
The goal of the program is to ensure reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities in the workplace and educational institutions.

There are four types of reasonable accommodations:

  • Non-technological,
  • Low-tech,
  • High-tech,
  • Support-based.

  • Non-technological accommodations do not require expenses
(e.g., adjusting work hours or break times).
  • Low-tech accommodations are simple and easy to implement
    (e.g., adapted door handles, magnifiers).
  • High-tech accommodations require special equipment and software.
  • Support-based accommodations include assistance from guides, sign language or lip-reading interpreters, or note-takers.

Eligibility Requirements
A person may receive reasonable accommodations if they:

  • Have a disability-related functional limitation that, according to their individual service plan, restricts their ability to perform work duties properly or participate equally in the educational process.
  • Are able to perform the required tasks adequately, provided that reasonable accommodations are ensured in the workplace or educational institution.

Required Documents
To apply, the individual must submit the following documents to the employer or head of the educational institution:

  • Application
  • Identity document
  • Copy of the functional assessment decision (disability certification, if available)
  • Individual service (rehabilitation) plan (if applicable)
  • Medical or other relevant documents, if needed

Provision Timeline and Process

  • Accommodations are to be provided within a reasonable timeframe after submission and decision-making.
  • The request can be denied by the employer or educational institution. In such cases, the person with a disability and the obligated party may engage in an interactive dialogue to discuss the reasoning and potential solutions.
  • If no agreement is reached, the obligated party must issue a formal decision within 2 working days after the end of the dialogue.
  • A written justification is required, including whether the accommodation would impose an undue burden, defined as costs exceeding 5% of the institution's or workplace’s overall expenditures.
