How to Obtain a Special Residency Permit

A special passport is issued for 10 years, with the option to extend it.

To obtain a special passport in Armenia, you must apply in person or through an authorized representative at the Department of Foreigners of the Migration and Citizenship Service, located at Tairov 14. You need to book an appointment in advance.

When booking an appointment, you must provide the details of the person who will attend in person. Each visitor must book separately, including children.

 

To register online, you need:

After identification, complete the required information on the “Applicant Page” (enter your first and last name in Armenian, exactly as it appears in your passport) and click the “Next Page” button.

On the next page:

  • In the “Place of Visit” field, select the department located at Tairov 14.
  • In the “Additional Visitors” field, enter the details of any accompanying persons (for example, the child’s parents).
  • Choose a date and time for your visit from the available options and confirm your appointment.


Requirements

To obtain special residence status, you must:

  • Be a foreigner of Armenian nationality
  • Be a foreigner engaged in economic or cultural activities in the Republic of Armenia.


Required Documents

On the day and time of your visit, you need to submit the following documents:

  • An application addressed to the Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service and 3 copies
  • A document confirming legal residence in the Republic of Armenia, such as an entry visa, residence card, special passport, or a note from the border control body on entry (4 copies)
  • A document confirming Armenian nationality (4 copies)
  • A document proving economic or cultural activities in the Republic of Armenia (only if you are not of Armenian nationality)
  • Your passport or travel document, along with its notarized Armenian translation and 3 copies
  • 6 photos measuring 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
  • A receipt for payment of the state duty.


Additional Documents Required

If you are a minor, you must also submit:

  • Passport of the parent or legal representative and a document confirming the family relationship.

If applying through an authorized person, the authorized person must also submit:

  • Power of attorney and passport of the authorized person.


Payment Amount and Procedure

To obtain special residence status for others, a fee of 150,000 AMD must be paid.

Special residence status is provided free of charge for individuals under 18 years of age.

Payment can be made on-site using a POS terminal, online, or at any bank by transferring to account number 900005162111. You can also use a banking application; if the app does not allow transfers to this account, select the “Transfer to the state budget” option.


Delivery Period and Procedure

The special passport is issued within 3 months of submitting the application. You will be notified via SMS about the progress of your application.

 

You must visit the Unified Public Services Office at 3 Vazgen Sargsyan to receive the passport.
