To receive reimbursement for transportation expenses, representatives of educational institutions submit applications to the regional administrations on behalf of the teachers teaching and students studying at their institutions.

About the Program

The goal of the support program is to:

• Provide conditions for obtaining secondary education for all children whose place of residence does not have an educational institution offering services at that educational level,
• Ensure reimbursement of transportation expenses for teachers who are not residents of the given community and whose involvement is essential for teaching those subjects.

Application Requirements

Compensation is provided to teachers, military instructors, teaching assistants, and special educators working in educational institutions located in the regions of the Republic of Armenia who:

• Work at a location different from their place of residence,
• That location is more than 5 km away from their place of residence,
• Have at least a 0.5 full-time equivalent position.

Compensation is provided for school-age children who:

• Attend a school in another community because there is no corresponding school in their place of residence,
• Or their local school does not offer the required educational program (for example, language-specific or specialized streams).

Exceptions
Compensation is not provided to institutions that:

• Have their own transportation means for transporting students and/or teachers,
• Already receive state budget compensation for fuel, driver’s salary, or other transportation expenses.

Required Information
To apply for the support program, educational institutions must submit accurate information about individuals receiving compensation to the regional administrations by September 20 of the current year, including:

• Student’s and teacher’s full names,
• Student’s grade,
• Teacher’s workload (position rate),
• Actual residence addresses of student and teacher,
• Distance from the institution (in km),
• Calculated amount (calculated for two directions for each attended day),
• Number of days approved by the study plan,
• Number of teaching days,
• Amount subject to compensation,
• Other remarks (if necessary).

Amount of Support
The maximum monthly reimbursement amount for transportation expenses for each teacher and student cannot exceed 20,200 AMD.

Procedure and Timeline

• The regional administrations compile and submit the information provided by the educational institutions to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia within 5 days.
• The Ministry’s General Education Department reviews the data within 1 week and submits the final lists to the Financial and Budget Department.
• The Financial and Budget Department reviews the lists. If there are no objections, contracts are prepared. If objections arise, the subordinate institutions of the Ministry revise the lists within 3 days and resubmit them to the regional administrations.
• The reimbursement is provided by the regional administrations quarterly.
