New Defibrillators Installed in Yerevan to Help Save Lives Before the Ambulance Arrives
29 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) have already been installed in Yerevan’s Small Center, with 15 more to be added by the end of the year. The most effective way to save a life during cardiac arrest is cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a defibrillator to restore the heartbreak.
The goal of the program is to provide first aid before emergency medical services arrive. To achieve this, volunteers are actively being recruited and trained. Once trained, they become accessible through the "GoodSAM" app, receiving alerts from emergency dispatchers about nearby incidents.
So far, 790 volunteers have been trained, of whom 695 are already registered in the app.
To participate, visit heartsafe.am and go to the “Become a Volunteer, Become a Hero” section.
The organizers believe that the devices and trained volunteers can reduce the mortality rate from cardiac arrest by 5% to 60%.
