Receive a Lump-Sum Maternity benefit

A maternity benefit is a lump-sum payment provided to the parents of a newborn child. This benefit compensates for the salary (income) lost due to temporary incapacity for work during pregnancy and childbirth leave. Maternity benefit is paid by the employer for working women, and by the state for non-working women.

Maternity benefit is awarded to employed and unemployed mothers.

Unemployed mothers must visit any Unified Social Service regional center (use the browser's translation tool to view the English version) to receive maternity benefits from the state.

Required Documents

To receive maternity benefits, you must submit:

  • Application,
  • Passport or identification card
  • Public service number - social card number (not required if you have an identification card)
  • State certificate of maternity care (it will be provided at the serving hospital)
  • Temporary disability certificate
  • Bank account number

Delivery Procedure and Deadline

  • Maternity benefit for non-working mothers is paid in cash
  • The benefit is granted if the application is submitted within 140 days of the right to pregnancy and childbirth leave
  • Maternity benefit is provided within 1 month after the application
  • In case of premature birth, a lump-sum benefit is also provided in cases where the child was born dead or died after birth


Amount of Support

The maternity benefit for non-working women is 172,500 AMD.

Self-employed mothers have different conditions for receiving lump-sum maternity benefits.

If you are a self-employed mother, you must visit any regional center of the Unified Social Service (use the browser's translation tool to view the English versionto) receive a lump-sum maternity benefit.

Required Documents

To receive maternity benefits, you must submit:

  • Application
  • Passport or identification card
  • Public service number - social card number (not required if you have an identification card),
  • Disability certificate
  • Certificate from the tax authority on the cessation of activity and income tax calculation for the previous year, as prescribed by law.

Calculation and Payment Procedure

  • Self-employed maternity benefits are based on a certificate of temporary incapacity for work and a temporary cessation of activity.

  • The start of the benefit calculation will be considered the day of cessation of activity.

  • It will be paid for all calendar days of the established period but until the cessation of entrepreneurial activity (except for temporary cessation).

  • The amount of the maternity benefit is determined based on the average salary calculated in the prescribed manner. Moreover, if the average monthly income is less than 50% of the minimum monthly salary as of the date of temporary incapacity for work, the maternity benefit will be calculated based on 50% of the minimum monthly salary.

 

Delivery Procedure and Deadline

  • The benefit is calculated, assigned, or denied within one month after the documents are accepted.

  • In case of denial of the benefit, the applicant is duly informed of this decision, indicating the reasons.

  • The benefit is paid in cash by transfer to a bank account.
